David J. Altman, 65, of Sioux City died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Bible Church, with Pastor Terry Embke officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and a Masonic service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. David was born March 24, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Frank and Pauline (Lanham) Altman. He attended schools in Mt. Healthy, Ohio, Mt. Orab, Ohio, Oklahoma City, Okla., Omaha, Neb., Oxford, Neb., and then graduated from Tecumseh High School in Tecumseh, Neb. He then attended Phillips University in Enid, Okla.

David married Susan Lee Carter on May 28, 1965, in Lincoln, Neb. He worked for Union-Pacific Railroad in Nebraska and California, Blue Cross in Omaha, and Midwest Shop Supplies in Sioux City from 1976 until 1979, when he established Altman Software Associates.

David attended Morningside Bible Church. He was a member of Morningside Masonic Lodge 615 A.F. & A.M. since 1978 and Abu Bekr Shrine Chanters, and the Sioux City Consistory. He had served on the advisery boards of WIT and Northwest Iowa Community College. David loved music, spending time with his family and traveling with his wife.

Survivors include his wife, Susan of Sioux City; three children, Michael Altman and his wife, Christine of Lincoln, Ronald Altman and his wife, Stephanie of Glenside, Pa., and Carol Cox and her husband, Travis of Ankeny, Iowa; his mother, Pauline Altman of Ladoga, Ind.; a sister, Carol Carrington and her husband, William of Crawfordville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Emily, Ryan and Kate Altman, Benjamin and Sydney Altman, Kaitlyn, Abigail, Grace, Eleanor and Camille Cox; and two nieces, Amy and Amanda Carrington.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Altman.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Wurster, Wayne Carter, Ron Pinyan, Travis Cox, Walt Brown, Eric Reed and Roger Williams.

Memorials may be made in David's name to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
