SIOUX CITY -- Julia Albeck of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Julia was born in Sioux City to Victor Z. and Luba (Plintink) Surmach. She received her education in Sioux City before marrying Victor N. Albeck on Oct. 21, 1933, in Vermillion, S.D.
She was a wonderful homemaker for her family. She enjoyed sewing, reading, working in the yard and knitting. She made numerous afghans for family and friends, especially for the weddings of her grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Janice and her husband, Guy Crockett of Freeland, Mich., Patty and her husband, John Harrison of Sioux City and Chris and her husband, Bart Kneifl of Newcastle, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Albeck of Brownsburg, Ind.; sisters, Lena and her husband, Walter Slowiaczak and Mary Carney, all of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor in May 1982; a son, Victor E. Albeck in August 1982; grandsons, David Albeck and Scott O'Hern; a son-in-law, Patrick O'Hern; sisters, Alice Thomas and Kathryn Delaney; an infant sister; and an infant brother, Billy.
