Phyllis M. (Corrigan) Wiltgen

Phyllis M. (Corrigan) Wiltgen, 83, of Sioux City died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Phyllis was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Bemidji, Minn., to Raymond P. and Barbara (Boniger) Corrigan. She lived in Sioux City most of her life, graduating from Cathedral High School.

She married Edward P. Wiltgen on Dec. 31, 1943, in Sioux City. Mr. Wiltgen passed away on Feb. 23, 1994. Phyllis was a homemaker, who worked briefly at J.C. Penney's and Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was also a volunteer for a number of years doing puppets for preschoolers at Mary J. Treglia Community House as well as donating her time to numerous church functions.

Her greatest passion, however, was her family. She loved to care for her grandchildren when they were young and later enjoyed watching them participate in their varied activities, especially their sports and musical achievements. Phyllis was known for her exceptional culinary skills, which included her famous cinnamon rolls and potato salad.

Survivors include five sons and their wives, Dennis and Suzanne Wiltgen of Sioux City, Dan and Joanie Wiltgen of Omaha, Ed and Mary Wiltgen of South Sioux City, Tony and Henrietta Wiltgen of Fairmont, Minn., and Russ and Annette Wiltgen of Lincoln, Neb.; a daughter and her husband, Victoria and Bob Taylor of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Gill of Sioux City, Tina (Wyatt) Yeater of Minneapolis, Minn., Angie (Corey) Swan of Minneapolis, Nicholas Wiltgen of Atlanta, Ga., Patrick (Trisha) Wiltgen of South Sioux City, Steven Wiltgen of Irvine, Calif., Amanda Wiltgen of Omaha, Trevor (Ashley) Wiltgen of Omaha, Adam (Callie) Wiltgen of Omaha, and Ryan and Mariah Wiltgen of Fairmont, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Connor, Kate and Ian Gill, Rowyn Wiltgen and Ava Wiltgen; a sister, Barbara Green of Dakota City; and a brother, Pat (Sandie) Corrigan of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brothers, Raymond Corrigan (World War II) and Tom Corrigan.

Pallbearers will be Nick, Patrick Trevor, Adam and Amanda Wiltgen and Joe Gill. Honorary pallbearers will be Mariah Wiltgen and Ryan Wiltgen.

Memorials may be made in her name to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
