Alex Kadin Reinhardt, 20, of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7pm, with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm, on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.   Alex was born to Carl and Angie Reinhardt on September 13, 2002; his brother Cole welcomed him home, and six years later he became a big brother to Seth. Alex grew up in Dakota Dunes, SD, graduated from Dakota Valley High School in 2021, and was attending Morningside University in Sioux City, IA.

Alex was athletic all his life, enjoying football, wrestling, shot put and discus during his high school years. He furthered his football aspirations at Morningside University while pursuing a degree in History Education. He could talk about history to his friends, family, and anyone who would listen.

Alex enjoyed 4-wheeling, golfing, target shooting at the river, scuba diving and tubing. His brothers describe him as outdoorsy and adventurous. Alex was known to push the limits; he will always be remembered as the life of the party. He did everything fast, especially snow skiing and was willing to take on every black diamond. Alternatively, he had a tender heart and love for his dogs.

Alex was a Type I Diabetic since the age of three.  He attended Diabetic Camp at Camp Gilbert for many years. He met some of his greatest friends at camp and after they aged out of camp, they created their own diabetic annual camping trips. He eagerly anticipated this each year.

Alex was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church and had a strong Faith in God. In the last year, he explored many churches and found his church home at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He had a kind heart, would help any stranger or friend, and would not pass up a person experiencing homelessness without giving them his last few dollars.

He is survived by his mother Angie Reinhardt; his father and stepmother, Carl and Jackie Reinhardt; his brothers: Cole and Seth Reinhardt; his step-brother, Chase Stabe; and step-sisters: Kaitlyn and Kaylee Stabe; Grandma Diana Stanton; special friend Natalie Santana; and several special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Alex was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Phil and Judy Reinhardt and his maternal grandparents, Darrell and Patty Will.

Donations made to the family will be used to fund a scholarship for students with Type I Diabetes.
