Alice Darlene Shanahan

Alice Darlene Shanahan, 90, of Dakota City, NE, passed away March 1, 2022.  A funeral service will be held Friday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Dakota City Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Alice was born on January 2, 1932 in LeMars, IA to Adolph and Katherine (Rochau) Groepper.  She was a loving mother who took care of her family.  She enjoyed walking and could often be recognized around Dakota City on her strolls.  She also enjoyed gardening, baking (making some incredible cookies), and caring for her neighbors.  Alice was a hard worker and volunteered her time at numerous organizations.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Kirk Leo (Janet) Shanahan, Aiken, SC, Jeff Shanahan, Tulsa, OK, Sheila Joan Shanahan, Salinas, CA, and Gina Wolf, Salinas, CA; 4 grandkids; and 4 great-grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 11 brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, Chad Wolf.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Cancer Association or to St. Jude.
