Aloysius "Aloy" John Goergen

July 1, 1951 — December 23, 2021

   Aloysius “Aloy” John Goergen, 70, of Sioux City, IA died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 23, 2021.

   A private family graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville, IA.

   Aloysius “Aloy”, the son of Joseph and Martha (Stoffel) Goergen, was born July 1, 1951 at home in Granville.  Aloy grew up in Granville and attended school there in his early years.  He graduated from vocational school in Sioux Center.  After graduation, he lived with his mom for a couple of years then moved into a group home in Sioux City.  Throughout his working years, he worked at Goodwill, Green Gables, and Casa del Rey until he retired in his early 60’s. 

   Aloy enjoyed listening to his beloved Minnesota Twins on the radio, playing Mexican Dominoes and playing cards, and square dancing.  In addition, he enjoyed going to Grandview Park Bandshell to listen to music.  Above all, he enjoyed spending time with family and always looked forward to the annual family reunions.  He was a faithful Catholic who attended mass at Blessed Sacrament Church.

   He is survived by eight siblings: Francis “Fuz” (Kathy) Goergen, Mary O’Rourke French, Dominick “Nick” (Chris) Goergen, Agnes “Aggie” Clausen, Gregory (Mary) Goergen, Veronica “Ron” (Les) Robertson, Florian “Floss” Goergen, and Gertrude “Gertie” (Ron) Chapman; brother-in-law, Jerry Klein; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Judith Klein; and three brothers-in-law: Bernard O’Rourke, Ronald French, and Gary Clausen.
