Ana Maria Ponce, 74 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025 at a local hospital, comforted by family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025 at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City, Nebraska with Fr. Matt Niggemeyer as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation, with the family present, will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23rd at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Prayers by Deacon Luis Guzman.
Ana was born on June 11, 1950 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to Jose Isabel Ponce and Maria Longina Hernandez. She received her education while in Mexico, including college courses. Once she was in the Siouxland area, Ana worked for Book of Life, caring for the elderly. She was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City and enjoyed gym classes at the YMCA.
Ana enjoyed taking care of her plants, was a food enthusiast, and loved spoiling her grandkids. She found great joy in keeping her home tidy and organized. Ana was a hard worker.
Ana is survived by her son Edgar Ponce; daughter Beatriz Ponce; daughter Martha Hoyos; daughter-in-law Manela Pablo; and grandchildren Miguel Ponce, Jaime Ponce, Zxavian Ponce, and Ayden Ponce (all from Sioux City, Iowa).
Ana was preceded in death by her mother and father, sister Martha Ponce, and brothers Jose Ponce, Luis Ponce, and Jesus Ponce.
