Andrew "Andy" J. Godbersen

Andrew “Andy” J. Godbersen, 57, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly in a house fire Thursday, February 6, 2020, following a battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Faith Lutheran Church with a visitation one hour prior to service time. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Charles Horkey will officiate. Andy was born May 15, 1962 in Sioux City to Chris and Karin (Carstensen) Godbersen. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from West High School. Andy worked various jobs throughout his life, most recently working for Star Tree Service in Sioux City.

Andy enjoyed playing sports in his youth, especially golf. He won many awards from wrestling while in high school. He would ride his bicycle everywhere and with his daughter, Rachel, when she was young. He continued to ride bike, despite his illness. He was a loving father.

Those left to honor his memory are his mother, Karin Kirkpatrick of Sioux City; daughters Rachel Godbersen of South Sioux City and Tina (Rob) Davis of Minneapolis, MN; brothers Martin Godbersen of Sioux City and Peter (Deb) McDermot of Sergeant Bluff; sister Melinda (John) Herbst of Harrisburg, SD; grandchildren Leslie Dzuris, Violet Dzuris, Autumn Sivilay, Ashton Sivilay, Michael Davis, Brayden Davis; and many nieces and nephews.

Andy was preceded in death by his father and step father, Sandford Kirkpatrick, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
