Anna “Ann” Wilhelmina (Jansen) Rathman, Belton, Texas, passed away 12/24/2024, at the age of 81 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. A small memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Orange City, IA.
Ann was born in Doetinchem, Netherlands on May 2, 1943, to Willem and Willemina (Jo) Jansen.
When Ann was 13 her father answered an ad in the Orange City, IA paper looking for a wooden shoe maker (Klompenmaker) for their annual Tulip Festival. On August 4, 1956, the family boarded a ship and made the 10-day trek to the United States, arriving at Ellis Island, NY. From there they took the train to Orange City, IA. She graduated from Maurice-Orange City high school in 1961. After high school Ann attended beauty school in LeMars, IA. This would be her career for 35 years, owning her own shop, The Charisma Salon of Beauty in Sioux City.
Ann married Henry W Punt on July 25, 1962, in Sioux Center, IA. From this union, two daughters were born, Tami Jo and Sandra Lee. Ann married her current husband, Jerry, on Dec 2, 1976. They lived in Sergeant Bluff, IA until Ann was moved to Belton, TX to be cared for.
Ann was a longtime member of Morningside Lutheran Church and participated in various church activities.
Ann had a great love for dogs. She was an avid exerciser and loved her walks. She loved to knit, crochet, socialize and always enjoyed her “farming”. The yard and flowers were always immaculate. Ann’s favorite color was purple, which also happens to be the Alzheimer’s Awareness Ribbon color.
Ann is survived by her husband, daughters; Tami (Brad) Bliven and Sandi Reynders, stepsons; Rick (Pam) Rathman, Randy (Kim) Rathman and stepdaughters; Robbe Clark and Kristi (Brian) Pingel, three grandsons; Jeffrey (Brittny) Sward, Jesse (Alyssa) Derrick, Jason (Emily) Reynders and one granddaughter; Jaimee Derrick. She also is survived by her only brother; John (Helen) Jansen, six step-grandsons, one step-granddaughter and nine great grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
