Anne McGlohon Murdock, 88, of Sioux City, Iowa died Tuesday November 9th, 2021 with family present at MercyOne Hospital. Celebration of Life will be Friday, November 12th, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church, 4212 Gordon Drive, Sioux City, IA. With son, Pastor Mark McGlohon officiating. Family will be present at 1:00 pm.
Anne was born on August 7th, 1933 in Beckley, West Virginia to James Cyrus Pack and Alva Stover. Her father was a West Virginia Coal miner and her mother raised her and her 9 siblings. Anne married H. Cecil McGlohon of Savannah Georgia on February 9th, 1951. Anne and Cecil then brought into the world 3 children. Anne enjoyed many years of being a stay-at-home mom. In 1971, Anne started her career in the banking world with Birmingham Trust National Bank where she quickly excelled in every position she worked in. Anne than moved to Savannah, Georgia with her 3 children where she then became a very successful Bank officer for Wachovia Bank of Georgia. In 1988, Anne married George Murdock of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They lived a very fulfilled life doing many activities they loved including: the Scottish games, attending Independent Presbyterian Church, and spending time with family. She greatly enjoyed her career for 39 years and then retired at the age of 70. After retiring Anne followed her family to Sioux City, Iowa.
Anne’s faith and dedication to her walk with Christ was always shown. No matter the situation she was always showing love, grace, and care for everyone around her including strangers. She always was a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear. She loved her family beyond words and would move mountains to be there for them. Anne loved to cook and be in the kitchen, she would cook meals for the church every Wednesday night. Anne also had a great appreciation for God’s creations including flowers, dogs, and especially watching her bird feeders. She has been made new and we know she is dancing around wanting us to know how great Heaven really is.
Anne is survived by husband, George Murdock. Daughter, Debbie Wells (Bobby) of Savannah, Georgia. Son, Mark McGlohon (Jane) of Sioux City, Iowa. Grandchildren Laura Busby of Costa Rica, Mark Busby of Savannah, Georgia, Matthew and Michaela McGlohon of Sioux City, Iowa. Great grandchildren: Indiana, Ricky, Lucy, Collin, Daniel, Micah, and Myles. Her sister, Mary Orren and brother, Sonny Pack, both of Beckley, West Virginia.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and her brothers: Aubrey, James, Elmer, Melvin, Donald, and Fred Pack.
In lieu of flowers, it was Anne’s wishes that donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Sioux City, Iowa.
