Anthony A. "Tony" Vondrak

Anthony A. “Tony” Vondrak, 62, of Merrill, IA, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at a local hospital. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Ellendale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., on Monday evening at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Tony was born on November 29, 1959 in Merrill, Iowa, to Robert and Irene (Tieck) Vondrak. He was a lifelong resident of Merrill, and graduated from Hinton Community Schools in 1978. He later earned a two-year degree from WITCC in Sioux City.

On March 21, 1987 he married Kris Spenner in Sioux City.

He was a hardworking farmer throughout his life, and farmed with his brothers on the family farm in Merrill. He found enjoyment in combining and bailing on the farm. Tony’s passions included John Deere, Ford, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Tony and Kris were parishioners of St. Joseph of Ellendale.

Survivors include his wife, Kris Vondrak; his son, Joel (Aubrey) Vondrak; grandchildren: Makenna, Crew, and a new grandson coming in November; brother: Bob (Lucille) Vondrak; sisters: Donna (Darwin) Dirks, Edie (Doug) Prewitt, Jane McDougall, Julie (DeWayne) Juelfs, Roxanne (Merlin) Wagner; brother-in-law, Garry (Carolyn) Goebel; mother-in-law, Fab Spenner; brothers-in-law: Bill (Cindy) Spenner, and Tony (Anitta) Spenner; sisters-in-law: Mickey (Randy) Nelson, Robin (Dave) Marx, and Sandy Vondrak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Eddie and Tim Vondrak; sister, Beverly Goebel; brother-in-law, Roger Wieck; father-in-law, Donald Spenner; and nephew, Zachary McDougall.
