Ardell "Butch" Banta Sr.

Ardell Maynard “Butch” Banta, Sr., 73, of Correctionville, IA passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Church of Christ in Oto, Iowa.  Visitation with the family will be Monday, January 9, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at the church.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Salix, IA.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. 

Butch was born July 3, 1949 in Sioux City, the son of Duane “Tuck” and Kathleen (McClimans) Banta.  He graduated from Maple Valley High School in Mapleton, Iowa.  Butch then entered the United States Navy.  He married Diana Ruth Banta on March 6, 1971 in Correctionville, Iowa.  The couple owned and operated D&B Enterprise in Sioux City and Butch also worked for the Co-op in Correctionville and Van Buskirk Construction Company for almost 30 years.  He was a member of the Correctionville American Legion and the VFW.  Butch enjoyed junking, pulling tractors, trucking, go carts, and playing cards with friends and family but he especially enjoyed his time spent with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Survivors include his children:  Ardell Banta Jr. and wife Becky of Sioux City and Deanna Skidmore and husband Tim of Salix, IA; grandchildren:  Kyle Skidmore of Salix, Iowa, Obbreanna Skidmore (Colby Seward) of Salix, IA, Abbie Skidmore (Bryce Coble) of Onawa, IA, Blake Banta and Jacob Banta of Salix, IA, and Josie Banta and husband Corey Donahue of Sioux City, IA; great grandchildren:  Amelia, Macie, Nathan, and Vivian; Aunts:  Darlene Banta of Sioux City and Sandy Banta of Arkansas; brother-in-law:  Larry (Lori) Downey; sister-in-law Patty Gotto (Banta) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.   

Butch was preceded in death by his wife Diana Ruth Banta on February 27, 2015, his parents Tuck and Kathleen Banta, brother Duane Banta Jr., sister LaDonna Reisdorph, great grandson Braxton, and nephews Benji and Aaron and other nieces and nephews.
