Ardis Pansegrau

February 3, 1917 — March 20, 2018

Ardis Pansegrau passed away peacefully on March 20th, 2018 with her daughter Linda at her side. Ardis had been living with Linda and her husband for several years in Colorado and Mississippi and was at home with Linda to the end. There will be a memorial service at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, Nebraska on July 7th at 1:00PM. Burial will be at 3:00PM at the Ponca Public Cemetery.Ardis was born in Allen, Nebraska on February 3rd, 1917. She graduated from Allen High School and received a teaching certificate from Wayne State Teachers College. She taught in the area for several years before marrying Herold Pansegrau, October 15, 1939. They bought a farm outside of Newcastle in 1941 and they lived there until Herold's death in 1998. Ardis then moved to Colorado where Linda and her family were living. She loved the cool dry air there but never gave up her garden. She had her own apartment and she enjoyed decorating it and making it her home. She was active in the local Lutheran church as she was in Newcastle's and set up a thriving quilting group. We celebrated her 100th birthday last year and she so appreciated all the cards and photos people sent her from Nebraska and Iowa. She had had a stroke just before her birthday and wasn't able to thank people personally as she would have liked. While she got back on her feet after the stroke, she fell in October, 2017 and was placed under hospice care. Linda was able to still care for her at home. Her son John and his wife Margaret were able to see her in October and Margaret and her daughter Loraine were there with her at Christmas.Ardis loved being outside, having her garden and her flowers. The gardens might have gotten smaller as she got older, but they were still enjoyed tremendously. She was an excellent seamstress and made prom and bridesmaid dresses, eventually turning to quilting for her church groups. She is survived by her children, John, Linda and Loraine, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
