Arlene Chase, 86, of Allen, NE, passed away July 8, 2021 at a local hospital. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Wakefield Christian Church. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Burial will be at Springbank Cemetery in Allen. Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Arlene was born December 17th, 1934 in a farmhouse near Maskell, NE, the daughter of Clarence and Zadia Backman. Arlene grew up in Ponca, NE, graduating in 1952 from Ponca High School. Arlene married Billy Chase December 30th, 1952. She worked at the Dixon County Court House for the judge until moving to Fort Leonardwood, MO while Bill was in the Korean War. When he returned, they moved to a house in Sioux City. They then moved to Jackson, NE and lived in the farmsteads for a couple years while owning a pizza house in South Sioux City, NE. In 1968, they moved to a farm near Allen, NE. Arlene and Bill raised 6 children together. Arlene worked at IBP until 2000 when she retired. She and Bill continued to live on their farm where they were often surrounded by family.
Arlene was a member of the Wakefield Christian Church and loved her Lord fiercely. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. Arlene exuberated love and kindness daily. She was a true gem.
Arlene is survived by her 6 children; Rick, Brad, Brent, Billy, Jeff (Vicky), and Lisa (Steve) Gunsolley; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Eschenbaum of Casa Grande, AZ; Patty (Terry) Jonason of Shawnee, KS; and one brother, Andrew (Mary) Backman of Dakota City, NE.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Bill Chase; parents Zadia and Clarence Backman; siblings Doyle Backman, Darryl Backman (passed during infancy), Evan Backman, Bonnie Bostwick and Connie Gubbels.
