Arndt "Arny" R. Gunderson

Arndt "Arny" R. Gunderson, 64, of Sioux City, IA passed away at Premier Estates Care Center in West Point on Wednesday, July 6, 2016.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, followed by a luncheon at the funeral home. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, July 11, 2016, with a time of sharing at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In honor of Arny, Husker apparel can be worn to the services.Arny was born on March 11, 1952 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Arndt and Margaret (Spaustat) Gunderson. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Riverside High School in 1971. He worked at Windcharger before attending WIT to obtain his electricians license. He worked as an electrician for Kiewit Corp. and was proud that he was able to work on the Archway Monument near Kearney, NE. Arny married Deb Ahlquist and to this union two sons were born. He later married Velma Watkins.He enjoyed the Huskers, his pickups, flower gardens, wrestling, fishing and camping. He had a good sense of humor and was loved by many.Survivors include his sons, Brent (Liz) Gunderson of Omaha, NE and Bart (Sara) Gunderson of Hubbard, NE; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Mike Gunderson, Alma Gunderson, Lil Carlson and Doug Gunderson, all of Sioux City, IA; many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Arndt and Margaret Gunderson; 2 sisters, Carla Hodge and Marcia Fischer; and a great-nephew, Johnathan Fischer.
