Arthur “Dean” Albrecht, 84, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 25, 2022 at Holy Cross Parish Blessed Sacrament. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 P.M. Sunday, July 24, 2022 with a vigil service at 6 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Dean was born the son of Arthur F. and Wilma (Beckman) Albrecht on April 20, 1938 in Hartington, Nebraska. He graduated from Hartington High School and then honorably served in the United States Army. On April 30, 1960 he married Mary R. Becker in Hartington, Nebraska. They made their home in Sioux City and together they raised four children, Mark, Sherry, Joe and Julie. They enjoyed 56 years together until Mary passed away in 2017.
Dean was a union painter for Meier Painting for 40 years until his retirement.
Dean enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.
He was a longtime member of Holy Cross Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children, Mark Albrecht of Olathe, Kansas, Sherry (Mike) Jones of Des Moines, Iowa, Joe (Kate) Albrecht of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa and Julie (Dana) Soukup of Chicago, Illinois; brother, Dale Albrecht of Magnet, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren, Melissa (Patrick) Sullivan, Kacie (Tyler) Kempkes, Lauren (Bret) Weaver, Joseph Albrecht, Jr., Austin (Amanda) Soukup, Aubrey Soukup, Chloe (Connor) Imming, Andrew Soukup, Ashley Soukup, Alayna Soukup and Aidan Soukup; and 6 great-grandchildren, Kaylen, Carter, Adelyn, Ren, Noah, and Ava.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; brother, Kenneth; and sister, Elaine.
