Arthur "Art" J. Bock

SERGEANT BLUFF – Arthur J. “Art” Bock, 95, formerly of Sioux City, IA, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with a visitation one hour prior to service time. Luncheon and fellowship to follow. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences can be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Art, son of Arthur F. and Florence (Klave) Bock was born July 30, 1926 in Le Mars Iowa. He attended schools in Hinton, Onawa and graduated from Leeds High School in Sioux City in 1944. Art served his country as a Coxswain Mate in the United States Navy from 1944 – 1946 aboard the ship the U.S.S. L.S.T. 869 in the Pacific Theater. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Sioux City and was employed as a mechanic for Klopstad Implement and Herman M. Brown Company. In 1959 he began his career with the U.S. Postal Service where he worked until his retirement in 1988 as a Postal Supervisor. He married Dorothy L. Crellin on June 6, 1949 in Sioux City at Whitfield United Methodist Church. They raised their four children in Sioux City and made Whitfield their church home. Art loved his family and always wanted to know what his kids, grand kids, great grand kids and even the pets were up to. Dorothy and he enjoyed dancing and were long time season ticket holders at the Sioux City Community Theatre. He enjoyed keeping their home and cars in great shape. Additionally, Art enjoyed their many pets, bowling, gardening and ham radio. Art, KF0SH, was a member of the Siouxland Amateur Radio Association for many years. He also volunteered with the peanut brittle crew at Whitfield Church. Art is survived by Dorothy his wife of 72 years; two daughters, Barbara Baldwin of Emerson NE, Carolyn (Layton) Jensen of Thurston NE, two sons, Edward (Janet) Bock and Douglas (Renee) Bock both of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, Carrie (Patrick) Hall, Jessie (Erik) Christopherson, Nicholas (Susan) Jensen, Ryan (Deenna) Jensen, Courtney (Travis) Walk, Melissa Bock, Amanda (Bryan) Kutter, Travis Bock, Amber Bock, Emily Bock (Jake Oehlerking, fiancé); and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Williams and numerous nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by his parents Arthur F. and Florence Bock, brother George Bock and sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and O’Don Pratt. Honorary Pallbearers: Nicholas Jensen, Ryan Jensen, Travis Bock, Erik Christopherson, Travis Walk, Patrick Hall, Bryan Kutter and Jake Oehlerking.
