The family moved to Ponca after they lost their house to a fire. He graduated from Ponca High School with the class of 1969 and attended college at USD in Vermillion. Aubby married the love of his life Ruth Harison on July 8, 1972 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ponca and to this union, four children were born. Aubby began his career working for the FBI in Washington D.C. After returning to Nebraska, he worked as a city letter carrier for the South Sioux City Post Office where he worked for 33 years until his retirement in 2008. He actively served 28 years as an EMT and Firefighter on the Ponca Fire and Rescue Department, where he helped many people in the community. He also owned and operated Voss Tax Service for over 40 years. Aubby was involved in many activities, including a former member of the Ponca City Council, an Eagle Scout, a Scout Leader, a sportswriter and photographer for the Nebraska Journal Leader, a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and a coach for youth athletics, including coaching T-ball, baseball, softball, basketball, and football. Aubby enjoyed playing guitar in many bands over the years, with his most memorable being “Scruffy and Zippy,” a band he played in with close friend Curt Neill.
