Barbara S. Gunderson

Barbara S. Gunderson, 79, of Sioux City passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at a local care center.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior.  Burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Barbara was born June 21, 1942 in Sioux City, the daughter of Major and Doris (Thomson) Anderson.  She lived in Sioux City most of her life. Barbara worked as a cashier for many places including Kalin’s, Hilton Garden Inn, and Walmart.  Barbara married Lawrence Ray Norton and the couple lived in Dakota City until Lawrence’s passing.  Barbara married Michael A. Gunderson on March 28, 2003 in Sioux City.  She loved to listen to Jimmy Swaggert and she and Mike were members of the Jimmy Swaggert Church. 

Survivors include her husband:  Michael Gunderson; daughter Brenda Schlotman; six grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and her beloved dog Laddie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence Ray Norton, daughters Melanie Pokett and Debbie Gaskill, a sister Marilyn Montagne, and her beloved dog Moo Moo.
