Bernice B. Carney

Bernice B. Carney, 91, of Waterbury, NE passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Careage Care Center in Wayne, NE.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE with Rev. Lorri Kentner officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca. Bernice was born on January 7, 1925 in Texas, the daughter of Willard and Bertha (Haylor) Walker. Her family moved to Seminole, OK in 1929. Bernice married Frank Carney on February 11, 1971 in the Courthouse in Ponca, NE. The couple farmed in the rural Waterbury area until they retired in 2000. Bernice was a homemaker and worked at various jobs, including Walmart in South Sioux City, NE. She also had a ceramics shop in Waterbury. Frank passed away in 2006.She enjoyed ceramics and animals.Survivors include one sister, Donnie Walker Joyner of Seminole, OK; and several nieces and nephews.Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Carney; her parents, Willard and Bertha Walker; brothers, Raymond Dice and Willie Walker; and sisters, Hazel Holt and Bertha Walker.
