Betty Beldin

Betty L. Beldin, 88, of Newcastle, NE, passed away April 11, 2022 at a local nursing home.  A visitation will be held Thursday, April 14^th from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.  Burial will follow at Newcastle City Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Betty was born on January 29, 1934, to Ervin and Rose (Wagner) Whelchel, in Sioux City, Iowa.  She was the seventh of thirteen children.  She married Donald “Paul” Beldin on February 29, 1952 and together they resided in Newcastle, NE.  Betty worked for several years at Bob’s Market in Ponca, NE and then at the Diamond Horseshoe in South Sioux City, NE until it closed.  She retired from the Crystal Café in South Sioux City, NE.

She is survived by her two daughters: Sandra (David) Cusatis and Pamela Lamprecht; grandchildren: Paul (Julie) Lamprecht, Melissa (Greg) Waterbury, and Heather Dowling; great-grandchildren: Lorena Daly, Justin Carmona, Tayler Tibbett, Jordan Lamprecht, Brayden Waterbury and Gaige Waterbury; great-great-granddaughter, Arianna Daly; siblings: Joann Chandler, Laura Schumacher, Karen Nelson; and a very “special nephew”, Terry Whelchel and friend Teresa Beatty.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; son-in-law, Dennis; brothers: Terry, Jerry, and Gary; sisters: Dorothy Abbott, LaVonne Frank, Jean Slater, Shirley Freeman, Darlene Schumacher and Mert Bostwick.
