Melvin “Bill” William Foster Jr., 72, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at his residence.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Following services, full military honors will be rendered. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Melvin “Bill”, the son of Melvin “Fuzzy” Sr. and Catherine “Kate” (Beaubien) Foster, was born July 6, 1948 in Sioux City. Bill grew up and attended school in Sioux City. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War. Bill was awarded two Purple Hearts during his service time. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Sioux City and started a long career with Communication Services Inc. in North Sioux City, SD. In his later years, he worked as a camper transporter moving campers across the United States until failing health forced him to quit.
Bill enjoyed camping and fishing; riding Harley’s; and trips to Sturgis. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and joking around with family and friends.
Bill is survived by his children: James Foster Sr. of South Sioux City, NE, Kristy Maeda of Sioux City, Bill Babe (fiancé Missy) of Wisconsin, Wesley Foster (fiancé Alyssa) of Sgt. Bluff, IA, and Ashley Johnson (Brandon) of Sioux City; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Mike Foster of Fort Collins, CO; six sisters: Mary Manke of Fort Collins, Nancy Chester (Jerry) of South Sioux City, NE, Rosie Ramirez of Sioux City, Kathy Foster of Sioux City, Barb Harbison of Schuyler, NE, and Phyllis Cooper of Sioux City; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jody Lyn Foster; and two siblings: Betty Schoen and Phillip Foster.
