Robert "Bob" A. Von Minden, 62 of Waterbury, Nebraska passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at a Sioux City, Iowa hospital.Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Neal Anthony officiating. Visitation with the family present will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Ponca Cemetery in Ponca, Nebraska.Bob was born to Diedrich and Marie (Rhodman) Von Minden on April 3, 1948 in Ponca, Nebraska.He attended grade school in Waterbury and high school in Ponca. After a tour of duty in Korea, he made his home in the home he was raised in Waterbury until his illness. He drove a wrecker for a body shop, was a long haul trucker, worked for farmers and did maintenance before retiring.He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed helping DJ and Anthony Kennelly work on their vehicles. They called him "Grampa Bob". His favorite saying, when asked a question, would be, "Are you writing a book?" If you said, "Yes." He would tell you to leave out that chapter.Survivors include his mother, Marie Von Minden of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Diedrich L. (Carol) Von Minden of Kearney, NE; two sisters, Ann Wedekind of Omaha, NE and Donna (Ronald) Woodard of Sioux Falls, SD; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Verna Kennelly, James (Charity) Kennelly and family of Waterbury, NE, and Pam (John) Danke and family of Hinton, IA.Bob was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
