Calvin was born on November 27, 1952 in Sioux City, IA to Jack and Evelyn (Wayman) Ring. He was united in marriage to Linda Anderson in 1975. Calvin was employed with the city of Walthill in the maintenance department, where he worked for several years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. He loved animals and over the years he owned many animals including several dogs, two pot belly pigs named Salt and Pepper, two birds named Poncho and Pretty Babe, a goose named Chi, and many more. He had a passion for restoring old vehicles and through the years he passed that passion down to his nephews as they helped him work on different vehicles, specifically his 1937 Chevy truck. In his words he was “a jack of all trades, but a master of none because it was better to be a jack of many, than a master of one.” Calvin or “Cookie Monster”, as he was affectionately referred to by his nieces and nephews, was a man with a big heart and a generous soul. He would make friends wherever he would go due to his contagious personality and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Linda Ring, Walthill, NE; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and brother, Al (Stacy) Ring, Pender, NE.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lenora McManigal; and brothers: Norman Skinner, JB Ring, and Jack Ring.
