Carroll A. Johnson

Carroll A. Johnson, 73, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at a local care facility. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2019 at Cathedral of the Epiphany - St. Boniface Worship Site. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Carroll was born on September 3, 1946 in Sioux City to Fernant “Dutch” and Vanetta Elgert. She was a resident of Sioux City throughout her life, and worked at Johnson Biscuit and Aalfs Manufacturing Company for several years before becoming a homemaker as she raised her daughter. She was also a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

In her free time, Carroll enjoyed boating, camping, playing cards and bingo, and riding motorcycles. She loved watching the leaves change colors in the fall and looking at Christmas lights. She was also a professional Easter egg hunter amongst her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter: Tracy Baker (Ted Thoreson) of Sioux City; two grandsons: Addam Baker and Taylor Baker (Mallery), both of Sioux City; great-granddaughter: Averie Baker; four sisters: Dianna Heibel, Jeanette Thomas (Bill), Sally Howard (Richard) and Cathy Oberg, all of Sioux City; and five brothers: Tom Elgert of Sioux City, Mark Elgert of Sioux City, Doug Elgert of Sioux City, Dale Elgert (Stacia) of Merrill, IA, and Scott Elgert (Terri) of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a nephew, Chad Elgert; and a niece, Lisa Christiansen.
