Cecilia Trottier

Cecilia Trottier, of Winnebago, NE, passed away May 23, 2019, at Legacy Gardens Rehabilitation Center, Pender, NE.

Cecilia Marie LaVallie was born December 8, 1932, at Belcourt N.D. to Antoine LaVallie and Eliza Houle .  She was raised on the Turtle Moutain Indian Reservation and received her schooling at Wahpeton Indian School. 

On November 29, 1950, she married Eugene H. Trottier at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND.  Eugene enjoyed a 20 year career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, retiring in 1981. Their travels took them to duty stations throughout N.D., S.D. and Neb.  They raised 7 children. The family was active in hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking and flying.  Cecilia was a homemaker dedicated to the children and family.  She loved the outdoors and walked every day well into her 80’s.  Cecilia relocated to Winnebago, NE in 2014 and lived with her daughter until she entered Nursing Care in 2016. 

Cecilia is survived by 3 daughters and 3 sons; Patti Bosch, Aberdeen, SD, Janice Bass and partner Gerald High Elk, Winnebago, NE, Renee Trottier, Billings, MT, Terry (Angie) Trottier, Mandan, ND, Gene Jr. , Forest Lake, MN, Duane (Jenny) Trottier, Bismarck, ND, 21 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, 1 son Jay, 3 brothers, 1 sister, and 2 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are with Becker Hunt Funeral Home, So. Sioux City, NE.  Visitation Monday at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Winnebago, NE from 11am until Vigil at 7pm.  Funeral mass to follow at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine’s  with Interment at St. Augustine’s Church Cemetery.
