Celia I. Dermit, 94, of South Sioux City passed away at Matney's Colonial Manor on Tuesday, October 27, 2009.Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska with Pastor Stephen S. Niles of First Presbyterian Church of South Sioux City officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery in Dakota City, Nebraska. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 29, 2009, with the family present at 6:30 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Celia was born on March 09, 1915 in rural Allen, Nebraska, the daughter of Sam and Edna (Allen) Isom. She graduated from Allen High School. Celia married Marvin Dermit on March 05, 1935 in Elk Point, South Dakota. The couple lived in South Sioux City, Nebraska. The couple had one son, Bill Dermit. Marvin passed away on September 29, 1949. Celia worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Engelman and Dr. Kelly for 35 years.Celia was a member of First Presbyterian Church of South Sioux City and a member of PEO.She loved her only son and his family, enjoyed holidays with her family, was an avid golfer and belonged to a womans traveling team, loved to watch Tiger Woods, watching all of his tourneys on TV, was an awesome bridge player, playing weekly for over 70 years with many bridge club friends, was a huge Big Red Nebraska fan, never missing a game and was always dressed in Red for every game, and during the football game saying "No talking during the game", enjoyed gardening, and enjoyed keeping a journal of everyday events.Survivors include her son Bill and his wife Marilyn Dermit of Sioux City, Iowa, two grandsons, Mark and his wife Mary Dermit and Rob Dermit of Sioux City, Iowa, one granddaughter Susan and her husband Patrick Pinney of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, 8 great-grandchildren, Jon, Lauryn, Taylor, and Brittney Dermit of Sioux City, Iowa, Ryan Pinney of Overland Park, Kansas, Michael, Seth, and Alex Pinney of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, one great-great grandchild, Brody Pinney of Overland Park, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.Celia was preceded in death by her parents; Sam and Edna Isom, her husband Marvin, a grandson, Sammy Dermit, three brothers, Joe, Claren, and Dale Isom and one sister, Lillian Grifford.
