Charelene Stone

July 25, 1934 — November 9, 2021

Charelene Stone, 87, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away November 9, 2021 at a local hospital.  A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 13 at 11:00 AM at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Charelene was born July 25, 1934, in Norfolk, NE to George and Pauline (Wilcox) Sohn.  After high school she went on to attend a year of college and was employed with the telephone company as a switch board operator.  She married Oscar “Bill” Stone on May 29, 1957 in South Sioux City.  Charelene was a devoted farm wife, helping her husband on the farm and looked forward to harvesting and planting.  In her younger years they had a dairy farm where she would milk the cows and feed the baby calves.  She enjoyed camping, playing Yahtzee, dancing, going to Arizona in the winters, and supporting Donald Trump.

Everyone referred to Charelene as “Bubbles” or “Bubs” and her contagious laugh would always brighten the room.  She was full of spunk, quick with a joke, and always had a loving spark in her eyes.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Paula Duggan of South Sioux City, Darrell W. (Nancy) Stone of Elk Point, SD, five grandchildren:  Raymond G. (Jenna) Duggan, Kristin J. (Nic) Sjobom, Ryan C. Duggan, Hannah (Zac Adams) Stone and MacKenzie Stone, great-grandchildren: Peyton, Gabe, Sam, Lola, and one on the way in December.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill and son-in-law, Steve Duggan.
