Charlene G. Jensen

Charlene G. Jensen, 82, of Hubbard, NE passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at a care facility in Lincoln, NE.   Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hubbard.  Visitation will be Friday, July 6, 2018 from 5-7 P.M. with the family present from 6-7 P.M. and a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at the church.  Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery.   Charlene was born July 10, 1935 in South Sioux City, NE the daughter of Guy and Gertrude (Casey) Duckson.  She graduated from Walthill High School and received her accounting certificate from Edwards Business College.  Charlene married Dean E. Jensen on May 24, 1958 in Willis, NE.  To this union, 3 children were born.  Dean preceded Charlene in death on July 11, 1994 in Lincoln, NE.   Charlene worked as a linotype operator for the Walthill Citizen, Nebraska Journal Leader, and the South Sioux City Star.  She also worked as a bookkeeper for several firms in South Sioux City and was the Village Clerk and Treasurer for Hubbard for 50 years.  Charlene was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Harty McNally American Legion Auxiliary #175, the North East Nebraska Municipal Clerks Association, and the Ridge School Women’s Club.   Charlene is survived by her children:  Debra (Ronald) Meier of Sioux City, Gary (Joyce) Jensen of Hubbard, NE, and Carolyn (Alan) Bernasek of Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; a brother Paul (Rosie) Duckson of Milburn, AR; beloved dog Chi Chi; and special “adopted” daughter Anita Leonard of Lincoln, NE.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, and a brother John.
