Charles B. Lingle

   Charles B. Lingle, 94, a longtime resident of McCook Lake, SD died Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at his home.

   Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with his grandson, Father Brent Lingle officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

   Charles was born in Richland, SD on January 9, 1928 to Albert and Ruby (Lias) Lingle. He attended school in Westfield. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II.

   Charles married Frances Zacek on January 17, 1952 in Elk Point, SD. They moved to McCook Lake in 1956 where they have resided since.

   Charles worked for All-American Trucking Co. for 36 years until their closing in 1988. In 1989, he began working as Union County Weed Supervisor. He worked there for 15 years.

   Charles was a longtime member of Riverside Lutheran Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was a Teamster member since 1953 and V.F.W. Post 915. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping trips, working in the garden, and most of all working on his farm. He had a special love for McCook Lake and the Missouri River.

   He is survived by three children: Robert “Bob” Lingle, Elizabeth “Beth” Hatton, and Douglas “Doug” (Paige) Lingle; grandchildren: Father Brent Lingle, Keith Lingle, Curt Hatton, Nicole Hatton, and Taylor (Ian) Kjose; two great grandsons; one great granddaughter; one sister, Josephine Zacek; other relatives and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Debra; beloved wife, Frances on March 19, 2022; and three brothers: Ellis, Bob, and Alfred.
