Charles was born on December 16, 1951 in Sioux City, to Leo and Frances (Valle) O’Leary. He graduated from Central High School in 1971 and went on to obtain a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa, as well as an Automotive Repair Certification from Western Iowa Tech. He was a Sioux City resident throughout his life, and a devout member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
He served his nation in the Vietnam War, as a Military Policeman in the United States Army.
Chuck’s Catholic faith was very important to him. He enjoyed reading about the saints, including Saint Padre Pio. He loved being around and helping others, and was always generous with his time. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Gus’s Family Restaurant in Sioux City; and you could often catch Chuck watching football, especially his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs.
Chuck was a volunteer with Hospice of Siouxland and a Salvation Army Bell Ringer.
Those left to cherish his memory include his siblings and their spouses: Sr. Kathleen O'Leary, FEHJ; James O'Leary; Theresa Hill (Mark); Terrance O'Leary; Thomas O'Leary(Shirley); and Stephen O'Leary (Patricia); two nieces: Molly Hill; and Erin Olson (Michael); two great-nephews: Linden Olson; and William Korthals; and a great-niece: Meredith Olson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters: Frances O'Leary and Lynn O'Leary.
