Cheri Dawn Neal passed away peacefully at her home in Lawton, IA on October 22, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born on September 7, 1947, in Sioux City. She will be remembered for her dedication to family and friends, and her passion for hobbies.
Cheri’s first job was as a car hop at A & W Root Beer in Sioux City. It was here that she met the love of her life and husband of 57 years, Everette “Dean” Neal. Before retiring, Cheri also enjoyed employment at Sedgwick Brennan Abstract Company, Walker Shoes, and many years at Boulevard Grocery.
Upon retirement, Cheri found a new love for antiquing, flea marketing, and rummaging. Soon after she discovered her talent at finding treasures, she opened her secondhand store “Jeepers Keepers” in Morningside. Cheri loved flowers and had a beautiful flower garden in her backyard. She enjoyed decorating, especially for the holidays. Cheri also put her decorating skills to use when she and Dean would renovate and sell homes in Sioux City. One of their major projects was moving a house to the Missouri River front in Jackson, NE. Here they made great memories with friends and family during the summer months.
Cheri stayed busy during the winter months as well. She enjoyed traveling with Dean to Florida and Arizona to visit friends and relatives. No matter the time of year, Cheri loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events.
Cheri is survived by her loving husband, Dean, two children, Dana (Kim) Neal of Lawton, IA, and Keelie Neal of Sioux City, IA,; her siblings, Rob (Becky) Nelson Jr., Barb Vogt, Terry (Marcia Waitt) Nelson, and Julie (Stewart) Utech, a brother-in-law, Ervin Hagemann; sister-in-law, Lois (Richard) Deringer; brother-in-law, Chuck (Kendal) Neal; grandchildren, Sarah (Dalton) Bush, Ashley Neal, Madison Neal, and Riley Neal, as well as many nieces and nephews.
