Clark "Spike" D. Woodford, 57, of Beatrice, NE, formerly of Ponca, NE passed away at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE on Wednesday, December 26, 2012.Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, NE with Rev. Dr. Bud Christensen officiating. Private family services will be held on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Ponca Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.Clark was born on October 4, 1955 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Francis "Woody" and Shirley (Bottorff) Woodford. He lived at home with his family until the age of eight, when he went to live at the Beatrice State Development Center. He volunteered for the animal shelter and was active in arts and crafts. He also enjoyed shopping, field trips and outings with his friends. He was always able to bring a smile to other's faces with his humor and joyous laugh.Survivors include his mother, Shirley Woodford of Ponca, NE; sisters, Kathy Downey of Lawton, IA, Patty (Terrill) Campbell of Belden, NE, Mary (Joe) Ankeny of Dixon, NE, Deb Gerth and special friend, Steve Looft of Marion, SD, Susan (Dave) Brunkow of Portland, OR, Cheryl Woodford-Rich and husband, Robert Rich, Jr. of Ponca, NE; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.Clark was preceded in death by his father, Francis "Woody" Woodford; and a brother-in-law, Raleigh Downey.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made for a memorial to be designated at a later date.
