Claudia Ann Small

Claudia Ann Small, 82, of Des Moines and formerly of South Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at a local care facility. Visitation with the family present will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Claudia was born on August 19, 1939 in Akron, Iowa to Edward Wilms and Dorothy (Scanlon). She was born and raised in Akron, and graduated from Akron High School on May 27, 1957. On February 23, 1958 she married Vernard Jay Small in Akron, Iowa, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Claudia worked as an insurance telemarketer. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo and going dancing.

Survivors include her son, Mark Jay Small and his wife Debbie Small, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; son, Robert Perry Small of South Sioux City, NE; grandchildren: Kayla Ann and Jake Edward.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernard Jay Small, whom was killed in the line of duty in Vietnam in 1965.
