Clayton C. Bottorff, 81, of Ponca, Nebraska passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008 at a Sioux City hospital.Memeorial Services were held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at First Methodist Church in Ponca, Nebraska with Pastor Sara Simmons officiating. Burial was in the Ponca City Cemetery in Ponca, Nebraska. Clayton was born on April 24, 1927 in Ponca, Nebraska, the son of Archie and Helen (Iverson) Bottorff. He grew up in the Martinsburg area and graduated from Ponca High School. He married Velma Sherman on January 06, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Ponca area all their lives.Clayton was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ponca. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards and traveling.Survivors include his wife Velma of Ponca, Nebraska; four sons, Ronnie Bottorff of Wahoo, Nebraska, Douglas and his wife Sharol Bottorff of Sioux City, Iowa, Randall and his wife Jeannie Bottorff of Onawa, Iowa and Dwight (Dutch) and his wife, Sandy Bottorff of Ponca, Nebraska; three daughters, Cindy and her husband John Spillane of Carl Junction, Missouri, Sandy and her husband Kenneth Jensen of Jackson, Nebraska and Jeanne and her husband Kirk Mabaeus of Rainbow City, Alabama; twenty grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Woodford of Ponca, Nebraska and Maxine and her husband John Book of Martinsburg, Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Leona Bottorff of Ponca, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews.Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Bottorff and one brother-in-law, Francis Woodford.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Luke's Diabetes Education Dept.
