Cletus J. "Pete" Temple, 84, of Greeley, CO and formerly of Ponca, NE, passed away on Dec. 6, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Home, Bonell Community in Greeley.Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 16 at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church, Ponca, NE with Rev. Dr. Bud Christenson officiating. A prayer service will be held Sunday, Dec. 15 at 7 pm at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE. Online condolences to the family may be posted at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Pete was born in Sioux City, IA on Aug. 1, 1929 to Anthony and Ida (Van Lent) Temple of Emerson, NE. Pete attended Sacred heart School in Emerson all 12 years, graduating in 1947. He delivered newspapers and worked in grocery stores at this time. At the age of 17, he went to work for the Northeast Nebraska Rural Public Power District in Emerson. He married Marilyn Lamp on Jan. 8, 1951. To this union 4 children, Debra, Marisa, Lorie, and Jay were born. Pete served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, then went back to work at the Power District in Emerson. While living in Emerson, he served on the City Council and School Board, was Boy Scoutmaster, and was Manager of the Town Baseball Team and Fundraiser for the Team. In 1965, the family moved to Ponca, NE. where Pete became Manager of the Utility Line Crew there. While in Ponca, he served on the City Council, School Board, Boy Scoutmaster, Luther League Sponsor, Pres. of P.T.A., Ponca Educational Foundation, served on the Church Council and other organizations. He was Manager of Northeast Nebraska Rural Public Power District for 16 years, retiring in April of 1995. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Greeley, CO; daughters, Debra Crain and her husband Brian of Greeley, CO, and Marisa Koenig and her husband, Robert of Denver, CO; son, Jay Temple and his wife Priscilla of San Diego, CA; sisters, Lois Ford, Broomfield, CO. and Margaret Beacom, Jackson, NE; grandchildren, Nicole Shackley and Joel Crain of Greeley, CO; Aaron Crain, Superior, CO., Jared Crain and wife Cheryl, Erie, CO, Rob Koenig, Denver, CO, Matt Koenig and wife Paula, San Diego, CA, Annaleisa Temple and Anthony Temple, San Diego, CA; great-grandchildren Christian Shackley, Jaeda Shackley, Jace Shackley of Greeley, CO, Landon Crain and Haley Crain of Erie, CO; many nieces and nephews; and numerous relatives and friends.Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Ida Temple; his brothers, Larry and David; and daughter, Lori. Memorials will be given to the Ponca Educational Foundation. This is Pete's favorite organization.
