Clifford J. “Cliff” Collette, 84, of North Sioux City passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at a local care center.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, June 13, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Terry Roder officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 P.M. Monday at the Church. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service at 6:00 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Cliff was born July 27, 1937 in Concordia, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Amanda (Girard) Collette. The family moved to North Sioux City which was formally called Stevens when he was two. He attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Heelan High School in 1955. Cliff married Joanne Girard on July 16, 1960 in Vining, Minnesota. To this union, three daughters and two sons were born.
Cliff’s favorite saying was he “worked on the same corner of 3rd and Steuben” at Homes & Hudson eventually becoming Guardian Building Supply for 35 years before retirement. He enjoyed golfing, cards especially card club, watching the Green Bay Packers play and reading a good Western book. Cliff also kept busy with bingo, church dinners, and his many roles and offices held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and as a volunteer for Hospice of Siouxland. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lumberman’s Association, once receiving manager of the year award.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joanne Collette of North Sioux City; children: Cathy Wolfenbarger of Hawarden, IA, Jim (Kris) Collette of Omaha, NE, Connie Collette of Sioux City, Judy (Marty) Carman of Maple Grove, MN, and Joe (Larinda) Collette of Lennox, SD; grandchildren: Allison (Ryan) Mugrage, Danielle (Ryan) Schmit, Kristin Carman, Emily Carman, Amber Wolfenbarger, Amanda Collette, and Nate Collette; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Wilbur “Red”, Leon “Curly”, Francis, and Geneva.
