Clyde E. Riley, 96, of South Sioux City, NE passed away at his residence on Friday, August 10, 2012.Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 P.M.to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Burial will be at a later date in the Lusk Cemetery in Lusk, Wyoming.Clyde was born on June 12, 1916 in Westington, S.D., the son of Glenn E. and Jessie P. (Deshazer) Riley. He attended various schools in Nebraska and South Dakota. He had a ranch job at the age of 14. He was in the Army from 1940 to 1945. Clyde married Dorothy Amen. He drove a truck before entering the horse racing industry, where he owned and trained horses. He traveled with the track and upon his retirement, moved to South Sioux City, NE. Horse racing was his life and passion.Survivors include his daughter, Marva (James) Whitehurst of Norfolk, NE; 3 granddaughters, Lisa (David) Payton, Jenni Whitehurst and Bre'Ann (Mike) Arends; 1 grandson, Rod Vosler; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Darlene Rich; and many nieces and nephews.Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Jessie Riley; his wife, Dorothy; 1 daughter, Claudia Riley; and 5 siblings.
