Colleen Kathryn Barker, 62 of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away at Mercy Medical Center on August 23, 2016, surrounded by her children and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery in rural Homer, NE, where she will be laid to rest with her predeceased children Terry Lee, Sherry Lynn "Sissy", Buddy Lee, and Jodi Ann, beloved by all.Colleen was born on November 14, 1953 in Mayville, North Dakota to Fingar Spencer Enger and Gertrude Hazel (Nelson) Enger. She attended Sandborn Community High School. She was an enterprising person and was always on the move, never letting anyone know how ill she really was, as she never wanted anyone to worry about her. She was loved and respected by many. People who knew her called her "Mom" or "Grandma." She loved to put on big block parties for the community she lived in.Survivors include her husband, Jerry Barker of South Sioux City, NE; daughters, Melissa Roberts of Fort Worth, TX and Michelle Matson of Elm Creek, NE; son David (Kristi) Thompson, JR. of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Kendra Roberts, Kane Roberts, Ryan Thompson, Kaylee Jo Thompson, Cade Thompson, Brittney Holloman, Ashley Matson, Sarah Matson, and Sadie Matson; great-grandchild, Keaton Holloman; brothers, Gary (Barbara), Donovan (Pat), Larry (Pat); and one sister Patti (Luaine) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fingar and Gertrude; sisters, Fern and Geraldine; brothers, Duane and Robert; daughters, Sherry Barker and Jodi Barker; sons, Terry Thompson and Buddy Barker.In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the family.
