Colleen M. Martin

   Colleen M. Martin, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, November 27, 2022, in Stockton, California. 

   Services will be held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, Iowa on Saturday, January 14th, 2023.  Visitation with the family present will be from 9:00 to 10:00 am, with a service following at 10:00. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

   Colleen was born February 11, 1937 to Leo and Ella (Trautt) Houlton.  She grew up in Akron and Sioux City, Iowa.  She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Heelan Catholic High School.  Several years later, she attended Ellis School of Beauty in Sioux City, Iowa. 

   Colleen was united in marriage to Terrence Martin on February 11, 1956 at Cathedral Church.  She was an extremely supportive military wife as well as a loving, compassionate, and devoted wife and mother.  She was kind and friendly to everyone she met.  Colleen had several treasured lifelong friends with whom she created many joyful memories.  Colleen’s Catholic faith was her true foundation and where she turned in good times and in times of challenges and uncertainty.

   Colleen owned and operated her beauty salon for many years.  She loved making her beautiful ladies even more beautiful.  Her favorite hobby was baking.  Anyone passing through her kitchen was always welcome to a freshly baked cookie cooling on the counter.

   Colleen is survived by her children, Kim (Les) Martin-Zold of Stockton, CA, Timothy Martin of Thornton, CO, Kelly (John) Meis of Fountain Hills, AZ, and daughter-in-law Debra Martin of Sioux City.  She had 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two siblings: Sharon (Dan) Jarman of Sioux City and Larry Houlton of Omaha, NE.  

   Colleen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Terrence, her son, Kevin, her great grandson Isaac, and her brothers, John, Michael, and Jerry Houlton.
