Colleen V. Schroeder, 93, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 with her daughter by her side in her own home. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Crescent Park United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Colleen was born the third daughter of Hans and Mary (Lauritsen) Olesen on August 18, 1928 in Homer, Nebraska. She attended rural Homer and Hubbard grade school and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1946. Colleen married Tommy Schroeder on February 11, 1949 in South Sioux City. After their marriage Tommy’s job took them to Mitchell, South Dakota for a few years before they moved back to Sioux City in 1956.
Colleen volunteered at the Crescent Park School library.
She was a long-time member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and Abu Becker Shrine Auxiliary where she was sewing chairman for 40 years.
Colleen enjoyed boating on the river with her family, fishing, sewing, cooking, gardening, and crafting with her friends.
Colleen is survived by her daughter, Lori (Peter) Dozark of Rochester, Minnesota; brother, Richard Olesen of Allen, Nebraska; grandson, Cory Dozark of Rochester, Minnesota; and great-granddaughters, Kayden and Kinsley Dozark.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tommy; son, Greg Schroeder; sisters, Geraldine Monroe and Lois Mason; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Dozark.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Abu Becker Transportation Fund.
