Connie Jo Farmer, 78, of Hinton, went home to be the Lord April 26, 2020 at her residence. In light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic private graveside services were held. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Sioux City Baptist Church.
Connie was born June 16, 1941 in St Vincent Hospital in Sioux City and God blessed her with a wonderful family when she was adopted by James and Josephine Kirby. She graduated from Central High school and attended NBT where she got a degree in clerical studies.
She married her best friend, Bill Farmer, June 17, 1962 at the 1st Baptist Church in Sioux City with Rev Ralph Brink officiating. In the fall of that year they moved to Hinton and have called it home for over 57 years.
Bill and Connie were blessed with two sons, Bob and Steve. Connie was a devoted mother who always put her family first. Her home was full of love for all who came through her door. She had a heart for children and attracted them wherever she went. Connie had a day care in her home and at one time cared for 9 children.
Her first job outside the home was at Zenith Corporation where she worked on a production line. She then worked at Indian Hills Care Center. After that she started working at Marian Health Care Center now known as Mercy One. At the time of her retirement in 2004 she was a Billing Clerk. She was meticulous in her work and always took her responsibilities very seriously.
Bill and Connie enjoyed spending time with family and friends and she was a great storyteller. They spent many enjoyable hours antiquing searching for candlewick, egg coddlers, pie birds and anything else that caught her eye. She loved people and had a way of making everyone around her feel special and loved.
Connie accepted Christ as her personal Savior over 43 years ago and she and Bill were faithful members of the Sioux City Baptist Church. She was privileged to teach Sunday School for over 36 years and sharing God’s Word with her students was her greatest joy. For many years she enjoyed playing the piano for the children’s ministry and worked in the kitchen for many events. She truly had a servant’s heart and loved serving in any capacity she could.
