Craig A. Ruhrer

Craig A. Ruhrer, 66, of Ponca, NE passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at a Sioux City hospital. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Craig was born on January 11, 1952 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Carlysle and Leatrice (Semple) Ruhrer. He graduated from East High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, IA. Craig married Melissa Wooley on May 10, 2001. He held various jobs and worked for Goodwill Industries for over twenty years. Craig enjoyed spending time with his family and going to auctions, flee markets, and antique shops. He was a man of many talents and liked to tinker and redecorate. He was a great storyteller, was easy going, and had an infectious smile. Survivors include his wife, Melissa Ruhrer; a son, Nathaniel Ruhrer; a daughter, Jessica Wooley-Ruhrer; in-laws, Jan and Dennis Schempp, Russ and Diana Wooley, Kris and Rollie Whitsel, Cassie Slater, James Wooley, Stacey Schempp, Brad Schempp, Abby Whitsel, Aiden Whitsel, Winnie Slater, Tine Schempp; and family he held in his heart.
