Danetta "Dawn" Hicklin

Danetta “Dawn” Hicklin, 54, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on September 10, 2022.  A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 16th at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Sioux City with Father David Hemann officiating.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  A private interment will be at Logan Cemetery.  Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling the arrangements.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dawn was born on May 14, 1968 in Sioux City, IA to Richard and Carol (Schroeder) Boever.  She was raised on the family farm in Remsen, IA until moving to Sioux City in 1998.  Dawn graduated from Remsen St. Mary’s and went on to attend Beauty School in Des Moines.    She was self-employed as a hair stylist from 1989 to 1999 in Sioux City.  In 1999 she began working as an assistant for her family-owned business.  Dawn was united in marriage to Randy Hicklin on June 20, 1998 in Remsen, IA.  Dawn spent years traveling to, building, and enjoying her lake homes in Northern Minnesota with family and friends.  She was devoted to the Catholic faith, spending her time going to daily mass at St. Michaels Catholic Church and praying for those she loved.  She enjoyed making crafts, writing poetry, singing karaoke, and canning food.  Dawn loved spending time with her children, supporting them in all of their various interests, and never missed a sporting event.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband Randy Hicklin, Sioux City, IA; children: Riley (Bobby) Sieker, and baby Leo, Boise, ID, Joseph, (fiancé, MacKenzie ) Hicklin, Waterloo, IA, Jillian Hicklin, Sioux City, IA, Carlene Hicklin, Sioux City, IA; step-children: Melissa, Joshua (Emily), and Kayla, all of Sioux City, IA; several grandchildren; siblings: Dan (Kelly) Boever, Doug Boever, David (Denise) Boever, Diann (Mike) Parcelli; mother and father-in-law: Dennis (Mary) Hicklin; brother and sister-in-law’s: Dan (Cathy) Hicklin, Tammy (John) Eveleth, Holly (Ted) Camamo, Tim (Wendy) Hicklin; many, many, nieces and nephews and step grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Tom Hicklin.

Flowers and memorials may be made to the family for a college fund for Dawns daughters.
