Daniel R. “Dan” Carpenter, 75, of Sioux City passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family when he was called to his everlasting life on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., with family present beginning at 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Dan was born on August 20, 1946 in Alta, IA. He graduated high school in Alta in 1964. Dan enlisted into the US Army and proudly served from September 26, 1966 through September 25, 1969.
Dan married Frances A. Newman at Trinity Lutheran Chapel in Alta on September 18, 1967. Their first home was Fayetteville, NC and their last home was in Sioux City.
He worked in the packing house industry for over 40 years. He is a 38 consecutive year member of American Legion Post 662 in Sergeant Bluff.
He is survived by his wife, Fran; son, Josh and his wife Heather; grandchildren: Charlize and Heath; sisters: Cindy and Cheryl; brother, Jeff; sisters-in-law, Punkie, Corla, Barb and Marilyn; brothers-in-law, Luther and Delbert; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-grandnieces; a large number of friends; and his faithful companion, Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Margaret Carpenter; and his parents-in-law, Harvey and Margaret Newman.
