Daniel Joseph Davey, 13, of Dakota Dunes, S.D., formerly of South Sioux City, NE passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 8, 2012, following his struggle with a rare form of muscular dystrophy.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE with Father David Liewer officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City. He attended Cardinal Elementary School in South Sioux City. Survivors include his parents, John and Tamie Davey; one brother, Samuel Patrick Davey; grandparents, Judy Davey Cooper of Sioux City, Iowa, and Stanley and Margaret Schroeder of Arcadia, Iowa; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and many caring teachers, therapists, caregivers, doctors and nurses.Daniel was preceded in death by his grandfather, Pat Davey; step-grandfather, Darrell Cooper; and uncle, Danny Schroeder.
