Danny J Waldner, 65 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away December 17th, 2021 at Pioneer Valley Living in Sergeant Bluff after a brief battle of cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Janell Norton officiating. Visitation, with family present, will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Danny was born January 20th, 1956 in Tabor South Dakota, the first few years of his life in Bon Homme Hutterite Colony, eventually his family paved way to Sioux City. In Junior High School Danny met eyes with Nancy L Porterfield and in his own words "I knew she was meant for me". August 3rd, 1973 they were married at Calvary Episcopal Church in Sioux City.
He left high-school early but later received his GED (1990) and Associates degree (Auto Mechanics) from Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City. He spent most of his years in maintenance a couple of locations included at the Sioux City Community Theatre and the Sioux City Public Museum.
In 1997 he moved his family to Fullerton California where both he and Nancy worked for Satellite Management Company as Assistant Managers/Maintenance team at Greenhouse Apartments working alongside his mom, dad and brother Jake.
In 2007, due to illnesses which forced them to retire, he, Nancy and son Justin moved back to Sioux City to be closer to their daughter Melissa.
During his free time Danny enjoyed recording his favorite shows on to VHS/DVD to share with friends and family. He has thousands to this day. His favorite genres were Westerns, just as his father. He enjoyed fishing and carpentry work for fun. He made many wooden puzzles, bookshelves, dressers, and more. He also enjoyed feeding the wild squirrels and walking his dogs. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother Sarah Waldner of Placentia, CA, his beloved wife Nancy Waldner of Sioux City, their children Melissa (Patrick) Stephens and Justin Waldner all of Sioux City, grandchildren Allie and Seth Stephens of Azel, TX, Abdiel and Lyrick Stephens of Sioux City. Brothers John Waldner of Sioux City, Pete Waldner of Placentia, CA and Ed (Fran) Waldner of Goodyear, AZ. Several nieces and nephews who he adored. Two dogs, Sammie and Chloe.
He was preceded in death most recently by his brother Jake “JJ”, father Jacob, and several infant children, Jessica, Joseph, and Baby Boy.
