Darleen J. Volkert

Darleen J. Volkert, 90, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at a local care center.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Westminster Presbyterian Church.  Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel and online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Darleen was born November 6, 1930, the daughter Robert and Lucille (Williamson) Volkert.  She worked for Braniff International Airways for a number of years and also had a true passion for collecting and selling rare and antique books and in 1992 much of Darleen’s collection, over 60,000 hardback books, were moved to a building she purchased in Dakota City, NE.  Despite her health issues allowing Darleen to participate in many activities, her attitude stayed positive and she had a great sense of humor.  Darleen was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Darleen was preceded in death by her parents.
