Darlene L. Marmo

Darlene L. Marmo, 87, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital.Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in rural Jackson, NE.Darlene was born on June 23, 1929 in Worthing, SD, the daughter of Lester and Luella (Larson) Merchant. She grew up in Newcastle, NE and graduated from Newcastle High School. She married Angelo A. Marmo and they settled in South Sioux City, NE. The couple later divorced. Darlene worked as an Office Manager for Cohn Wholesale in Sioux City, IA for 31 years. Angelo passed away on April 15, 2002. She lived in Arizona for a time before moving back to South Sioux City.She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE. Darlene enjoyed her family, cooking and singing.Survivors include her daughters, Lue Franco of South Sioux City, NE and Barb Marmo of Illinois; grandchildren, Angie, Jason, Todd, Kory and Jeremy; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Dreas and Donna (Marlyn) Braaten; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Luella Merchant; a son, Joseph Marmo; brother, Roy Merchant; and ex-husband, Angelo Marmo.
