Dave was born on August 10, 1945 to Howard and Ada Stier in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  He graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls in 1964.  He then continued his education at Hiram Scott College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska for two years.  He moved to Sioux City in 1969 and met Judy Ellickson at the Sioux City Singles.  They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church on October 1, 1971.  They were blessed with three children, Kris, Jeff, and Cindy.

Dave went to school at Western Iowa Tech and graduated with a degree in office machine repair.  He also had his own business, Dave’s Services, where he repaired lawn mowers, snow blowers, vacuums, and many other things.  He started fixing things at age 7.  Dave worked for General Business, repairing office machines, Scheels, repairing lawn mowers and snow blowers, at Coast to Coast, at the Indian Hills location, then for 18 years as a custodial engineer for the Sioux City Community Schools.  He looked forward to trips to Denver to visit his daughter Kris, Steve, Sean and Liam, and trips to Mesa, Arizona to visit Jeff, Mayra, Bela and Sofia.

Dave enjoyed spending evenings with family and friends playing cards and Farkle.  He enjoyed helping with the harvest and driving the tractor at the Arends Farm.  Dave also enjoyed camping in his fold-down camper with his family and friends.  He loved riding his motorcycle and motor scooter.  Dave was also a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader.  He enjoyed watching the many varieties of birds in his yard.  On October 1, 2021, Dave and his family helped celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary at Archies in LeMars.  Over the years, there has always been a dog in the house, and what love they have given each other.  Ginger and Maggie will be missed.

Dave is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter Kris (Steve) Gilley of Thornton, Colorado; Son Jeff (Mayra Farias) Stier of Mesa, Arizona; daughter Cindy (Doug) Snyder of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren Sean Gilley, Liam Gilley, Bela Stier, Sofia Stier, and Sadie Snyder; and sister-in-law Jamie Stier.
